I bought some Korean ingredients today as I found large bean sprouts in Tesco supermarket yesterday.

Bibimbap

Bibimbap

Large bean sprouts have much beans like texture than the normal size bean sprouts with longer roots which produce crisp texture.

Ingredients for serves 2:

  • Steamed rice for 2 with 3 table spoons of Yakiniku barbecue sauce fried.
  • 100g of beef sauteed with 1 tea spoon of each Gochujang Korean Miso Paste, Sake, soy sauce, grated garlic.
  • Thinly sliced cucumber with 1 tea spoon of each soy sauce, sesame oil, grated garlic and a pinch of salt.
  • 100g of large bean sprouts with 1 table spoon of sesame oil, grated garlic and a pinch of salt.
  • 2 x half raw poached eggs.
  • Some Kimchee Korean Chili Chinese Cabbage Pickles as you like.
  • Korean Seaweed for final topping as you like.

Before eating all the tasty toppings with Korean chili seasonings and white rice are mixed well and enjoy it.

Usually spinach with stems instead of cucumber is used, but cucumber is also tasty. There are some more options and different ways to make Bibimbap you may want to pursue further.

Within the limited time, I somehow managed to grab some souvenirs in Seoul.

The Korean Red Ginseng, the special carrots grown with full of nutrients sucked from the earth, is one of the must-buy lists of Korean souvenirs. It is known as a health functional food and may be an ideal souvenir for elderly or ill people, as well as other people in interest or in appropriate conditions.

The sliced ginseng was seasoned with sugar, however, all the ginseng products I bought had very strong flavour of wild carrots. The sliced ones, candies, concentrated extract dissolved in boiled water as tea, and the concentrated skincare cream, the scent of ginseng carrots was drifting around me.

I have read that there is a parent with four ex-Miss Korea out of five daughters. They used to give ginseng tea whenever their daughters are thirsty.

I wish I had more time and money to spend for other attractive products and services in Korea, hopefully, the next visit is in the near future.

We went to Seoul, Korea lately and had Korean noodles below.

Actually, due to the H1N1 flu, until we arrive at the town city of Seoul, we had anxiety about the trip to Seoul, with masks tidily on our faces.

We gave up exploring fresh fish market and had the Korean noodles. However, the noodle was moderately thick and had modest textures, the soup was tasteful with spicy seasonings such as garlic, Korean chili and some herbs.

As it was really short trip and therefore we could not take photos of other meals such as Bibimbap, the rice with meat and vegetables topping and spicy orange colour seasonings. If I go there next time, I would like to explore actively without much anxiety like this time.
